Planting!

Since we no longer have caterpillars in our class, we thought we could plant our Swan Plants somewhere around the school so that in the future we could go and visit these plants and see the butterfly life cycle happening outside of our classroom. We planted the plants in the courtyard outside the staffroom where they will be sheltered and easily cared for.

Here are some photos from our planting afternoon.

Photos of our Butterfly's Life Cycle

First we had a tiny little egg

Out hatched a tiny caterpillar.
It ate all the swan plant leaves and grew big and fat!

It made itself into a J

Then wriggled until it was a chrysalis

The chrysalis turned black...

Then out came a beautiful Monarch Butterfly
